My New Toy =)

While I was attending Brooks Institute I noticed one day in the studio that the strobes I was using were made in Nashville. I got so excited to see that something so great came from my hometown so far away. Yesterday I visited the Paul C. Buff factory in Nashville where the wonderful White Lightning strobes I learned to use at Brooks are made. It was awesome! I was so gitty it was ridiculous, but my sales lady is obviously used to photographers reactions when they walk in the door. We tend to get overly excited when it comes to cool photo gadgets. The decor was too cute, with it's multi colored, vibrant walls and Paul's original art work hanging, which is enough to make anyone light up with happiness. As I walked to the showroom to play with the merchandise, I noticed the ladies in the offices were wearing bee antennas on their headsets. Just another reason to smile and "bee" happy. I had so much fun taking the tour and playing with the lights, I blurted out, "I'll take an Alien Bee Ring Flash please!" Meanwhile, I think it was the best decision. I just love it. Every time I look at it, I smile and think of the fun day I had in the factory. Not to mention I now have a studio light in which will enhance my photography. Below are photos of my new toy. Enjoy!

Holland Park in Downtown Dickson, TN

On this icy, blustery day (01.08.10) at Holland Park in downtown Dickson, TN ; the fountain created a masterful ice sculpture of its own. I found this fascinating to say the least and of course my instinct was to grab my camera and shoot it. If you're a photographer, I don't have to tell you, it never ends with just one shot of that one thing. After shooting the fountain I warmed up a bit in my car, then walked around the park and captured a few more images. I hope you have enjoyed my photographs as much as I enjoyed taking them. Please come back soon for more of my phlography. (Photography+Blog=well you get it.) ;)

Music City Burlesque

Since my return home, I have had the wonderful privilege of photographing two of the most recent Music City Burlesque shows at the historic Belcourt Theatre of Hillsboro Village in Nashville, TN. The October 23rd "Boo-Lesque at the Belcourt," was my very first ever burlesque experience. I was amazed by how the girls put on an exciting show full of dazzling costumes and sexy, comically, energetic numbers. I was also astonished by how the audience interacted and came alive with laughs and hollers. I loved the my first show so much that I invited my mom to the second show, "The Goon Presents Burlesque at the Belcourt Theatre" this past Thursday, December 10th. I got some awesome shots of the girls and had a wonderful night out with my mom. It was definitely an experience to remember and an honor to be an authorized photographer at the shows. I look forward to shooting many, many more in the future. I have my dear, dear friend, Ashley aka Lux-O-Matic aka "Little Buddy" to thank. If you would like to see more of the images, I have posted links below for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy =)
